FAN TECHNOLOGY
Why EC fans make the difference
Fan and motor upgrades are usually where a refurbishment delivers the biggest efficiency gain. Replacing old belt-driven or AC induction fans with EC (electronically commutated) fans is one of the highest-impact changes we make to an ageing AHU.
- Significantly lower energy use, especially at partial load – where most AHUs run most of the time
- Built-in speed control, with no separate inverter or belt-drive to maintain
- Quieter running, noticeable in occupied spaces
- Fewer moving parts than belt-driven fans, so less routine maintenance
- Multi-fan arrays keep ventilation running even if a single fan fails
- Straightforward integration with modern BMS and demand-based controls
